Compare UGC quotes without missing the extras

A practical checklist for comparing UGC deliverables, editing, revisions, shipping and intended usage on an equivalent scope.

Define one comparable package

A starting price may refer to a different video length or set of deliverables for each creator. Request the same scope from every finalist and compare their written quotes. Keep your production budget separate from any advertising spend.

  • Number of finished videos and length of each.
  • Aspect ratio, destination platform and file format.
  • Who writes and approves the script.
  • Captions, editing, music and product shots.
  • Number of alternate openings and whether these are separate edits.

Make optional work visible

Ask which items are included and which need a separate quote. Do not add guessed amounts to our observed starting prices. Use the seller’s confirmed amounts to compare the actual project.

  • Raw footage and permission to edit it.
  • Extra versions, hooks or aspect ratios.
  • Additional filming locations or participants.
  • Shipping, returns and product handling.
  • Your requested advertising use and any renewal terms.

Clarify revisions before filming

Ask what a revision covers: changing captions or a cut may be different from recording a new script. Agree on script approval, the included number of revisions, the feedback deadline and how out-of-scope changes will be quoted.

Work backward from the launch date

Separate product receipt, script approval, filming, first delivery and your feedback window. Ask when the creator’s delivery estimate starts. A listed turnaround may not include shipping or the time you need to approve a draft.

Example: two different starting prices

Creator A may quote one finished video, while Creator B includes additional edits. Ask both for one finished video with the same length, captions and intended use. Compare the confirmed scope and total rather than ranking them by the listing’s starting price.

Put the checklist to work

Draft your scope, then use it to compare the creators you are considering.
